Micro-needling, also known as “collagen induction therapy” (CIT), is a minimally invasive, non surgical procedure for skin rejuvenation.
It involves the use of a micro-needling device, to create controlled micro-injuries which, in turn, stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodelling of collagen and elastin, and also increases product penetration by 85%.
This is a fantastic treatment if you would like to address any of the following skin concerns:
Skin texture - Large pores - Acne scarring - Lines and wrinkles - Loss of volume - Dull skin - Stretch marks
You will see a plumping effect almost immediately, however the natural healing process takes time, so it can take up to 6 weeks before you see significant results.
The best results from micro-needling are seen after a course of 6 treatments spaced 2 - 4 weeks apart.
The Treatment
Prior to treatment - avoid excessive sun exposure or application of fake tan. Refrain from using retinol, glycolic or salycylic acid products, as well as waxing the area, for 1 – 2 weeks.
